BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid

BioGuard® SoftSwim® Filter Aid

BioGuard® SoftSwim® Filter Aid is a filter aid and flocculant for use in BioGuard SoftSwim sanitized pools.  BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid can be added directly to the filter through the skimmer to clear up slightly cloudy or hazy water.  Cloudy water can occur when a filter is not operating properly, is not cleaned regularly or if the correct sanitizer residual is not maintained with BioGuard SoftSwim B.

  • Dual-purpose product that works as a filter aid, removing suspended particles in water.
  • May also be used as a flocculent, binding tiny particles together so they drop to the bottom of the pool for easy vacuum removal

Available Sizes:
  • 1 lb Bottle
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Read entire label and use strictly in accordance with hazard warnings and directions
Filter Aid:  Backwash and rinse filter according to the manufacturers instructions, then return to filter cycle.  For Cartridge and Sand Filters, predissolve outdoors in an empty, clean plastic bucket 0.5 - 1 LB of BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid in 1 gallon of water for pools ranging from 10,000 - 35,000 gallons.  Stir with a clean plastic or wooden spoon.  Pour predissolved solution slowly into the skimmer with the pump running.  Filter continuously 24-28 hours or until the pool clears.  If the pool does not clear, backwash filter and repeat as necessary.  If the pressure gauge increases 8-10 psi above the clean filter pressure, backwash and rinse the filter appropriately.  Resume routine maintenance schedule.

For D. E. Filters:  Backwash and clean the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then return to filter cycle.  For pools ranging from 10,000 - 35,000 gallons, predissolve 1-2 oz of Bioguard SoftSwim Filter Aid outdoors in a clean plastic bucket using 1 gallon of water.  The slurry can be stirred with a clean plastic or wooden spoon.  Slowly pour the solution into the skimmer with the pump running.  Filter continuously 24-28 hours or until the pool clears.  If the filter pressure increases 8-10 psi above the clean filter pressure, backwash and clean the filter as necessary.
Flocculant:  Backwash and rinse the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions.  Test pH and adjust to 7.6-7.8.  Allow pool to circulate for 2 hours before proceeding to the next step if pH adjustment was necessary.  Raise the water level in the pool to the top of the skimmer box and turn the pump off.  Use BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid at the rate of 1 lb per 6,500 gallons of pool water.  Predissolve outdoors in an empty, clean plastic bucket 1.0 lb of BioGuard SoftSwim Filter Aid in 1 gallon of water.  Stir with a clean plastic or wooden spoon.  Pour the solution along the edges of the pool.  Allow 24-28 hours for the floc to settle to the bottom of the pool and slowly vacuum to waste.  If some of the floc becomes resuspended, allow an additional 24 hours for it to settle and slowly vacuum to waste.  Check and adjust pH and total alkalinity as necessary and resume routine maintenance.
