Doughboy U-Gasket Installation – Instructions for Skimmer

The instructions below replace information for gasket installation at the skimmer openings and return port, and are supplemental to the instructions packed with your skimmer. This procedure must be followed to install skimmer and return fitting u-gaskets when there is a minimum of 5 inches, but less than two feet of water in the pool. These instructions apply to u-gasket installation with both Stretch-in and E-Z Clip liners.

SKIMMER GASKET INSTALLATION

To install the large skimmer u-gasket, trim the liner from the skimmer opening leaving the entire bottom edge uncut (see Fig. 1). Pass the hanging liner material through the skimmer opening to outside the pool wall. Pull down firmly and tape securely with duct tape as shown.

Install the large skimmer u-gasket into the rectangular wall opening. Be sure the liner is flattened under the gasket’s flanges.

Hold a board behind the round vacuum port wall opening located just below the large rectangular opening. From the opposite side, completely trim the liner material (2 layers) from the wall opening.

Install the vacuum port u-gasket into the previously cut opening.

With both skimmer gaskets installed, trim away the excess liner material (outside of pool) using the gasket edges as a guide.

Complete skimmer installation following the instructions packed with that unit.

RETURN GASKET INSTALLATION
From inside the pool, hold a board against the return port. Using the edge of the wall opening as a guide, cut the liner around the opening leaving approximately 1/4” of material uncut at the bottom of the opening. Pass the liner flap through the opening to outside the pool wall, and tape down the liner flap as shown (see Figure 1).
Complete return fitting installation following the instructions packed with that unit. Trim away the excess liner material (outside of pool) using the return fitting edge as a guide.
