Labor Day Party Theme Ideas
Labor Day is right around the corner, and it’s time to get ready. With just a little bit of pre-planning, you can throw a party your guests will remember all year long.
While most people expect the standard pool party, you can take things up a notch by adding a theme to your Labor Day party.
Shake up your party and do something different. Make your Labor Day pool party extra special with our Labor Day party theme ideas.
#1: Have a Costume Party
People like to dress up, and why should Halloween get all the perks?
Ask your guests to come in costume. Here are a few ideas:
- Dress up as the job you had in high school.
- Wear a costume showing your first dream job – perhaps the one you didn’t pursue.
- Come in character as a worker in a different job than you actually have.
- They can always add a costume-themed mask for extra fun!
#2: Everyone Wear White
This is a take on the old “rule” that says you can’t wear white after Labor Day.
Invite your guests to show up decked out from head to toe in white. You can also use all-white décor for added ambiance. Be sure and set out some white towels for your pool and hot tub guests, too!
#3: Build Your Own Meals
Labor Day celebrates the American worker. Make everyone at your party a builder by setting up meal stations. Personalize it, and create individual servings for everyone. For example, set out individual serving cups filled with lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes for tacos.
Consider:
- Build your own tacos.
- Build your pizzas.
- Create your own ice cream sandwich – have various flavors of ice cream and cookies on hand.
- Develop your own burger. Set out unique toppings and give a prize for the most creative.
#4: Job Crafting Stations
Set up tables around your pool where your guests can do a craft based on a different occupation. This can be tailored to the kids, but you can also let the adults participate.
For example, set up a table for the marine biologist. Set our sand and seashells and let your guests glue them onto a board.
#5: Have a Scavenger Hunt
You can actually do this game in the pool. Get out your plastic Easter eggs, print off pictures of various occupations (and laminate them), and put them inside. Then, throw all the eggs in the pool.
Give each guest a list of what to find. Whoever finds their whole list first wins.
#6: Pool Baseball
Have your guests come in their favorite team’s T-shirt.
Then, have players get in the pool. You can use inflatable bats and small water balls. Designate bases and fielders.
We wish you and yours a wonderful, fun, and safe Labor Day weekend! Don’t forget the Water Watchers so everyone stays safe in the pool.
