Grilled Banana Split With Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream

Enjoy this smoky, sweet ice cream with grilled bananas and a smattering of your favorite toppings. There truly is nothing more decadent than this Grilled Banana Split With Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream!

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cup heavy cream
3 Cup half-and-half
3 Teaspoon bourbon
1 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla extract or extract seeds from 1 vanilla bean
1 Cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, divided
6 Whole bananas, ripe but firm, unpeeled and split lengthwise
chopped nuts, for serving
whipped cream, for serving
6 As Needed maraschino cherries, for serving

Instructions

When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 180℉ and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes. For optimal flavor, use Super Smoke if available.

Combine the heavy cream and half-and-half in an aluminum roasting pan. Place them in the Traeger and smoke for 45 minutes.

Once the cream mixture has smoked, remove it from the grill, add bourbon, vanilla, 2/3 cup sugar and salt. Stir until it is fully dissolved, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Pour mixture into an ice cream maker until it reaches a soft serve consistency. Next, put it into a plastic container and place in the freezer for at least one hour, or until you are ready to assemble the banana splits.

While ice cream is setting up, set Traeger temperature to 450°F and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes. Coat bananas in 1 tablespoon sugar and place directly on the grill grate, cooking for five to seven minutes, until lightly caramelized.

Remove bananas from Traeger and place in serving dish. Top with ice cream, nuts, cherries and desired sauces or toppings. Enjoy!
