The First Hot Spring Spa
Watkins Manufacturing built the first Hot Spring Spas portable spa in 1977.
Owners, OT Neal and Jeff Watkins, determined to sell their hot tubs, loaded their very first spa called The Original onto a trailer.
They pulled their trailer all over the country visiting prospective dealers. They touted all the benefits of their spa, as they told dealers why their hot tub was better than anything else on the market.
The father of our owner, Rita Rowlen, and founder of Ultra Modern, Cecil Schniepp was a very tough sell. But, he liked their sales pitch and decided the hot tub was worth trying.
The Originals are Still Around
We think Cecil made the right decision! Because, guess what – the Original hot tubs are still around in some homes today.
The Hot Spring Spas owners were right – they did make the best hot tubs!
