Things Men Can Do to Beat Stress

Being healthy means eliminating stress. Yet, it’s often hard to do, and it’s such a part of every day life that we often don’t recognize its symptoms. Since Father’s Day is Sunday, and this is National Men’s Health Month, we’d like to share things men can do to beat stress.

First, let’s look at why stress is bad for you.

Stress is Dangerous

Stress can make you sick, but did you know the danger can actually go far deeper?

Not only does too much stress weaken your immune system, leading to illness, but it also disrupts your digestion and even causes heart problems.

Stress is something that most men experience. And, it’s a perfectly natural reaction in your body.

However, like everything in our lives, too much of anything is never a good thing. Stress has been shown to negatively impact health across the board.

So, while you can’t get away from stress, you can manage it so it doesn’t actually lead to the harmful side effects.

Let’s look at a few ways to beat stress.

Be Still

Spend a few minutes every day enjoying complete silence while doing nothing at all. Whether you meditate or just sit still, you’ll reap the benefits.

Ditch the Electronics

Turn off the electronics. Put your phone and tablet down, turn off the TV – especially the daily news – and walk away from your computer.

You just might be surprised at how peaceful you feel once you get rid of the electronic distractions.

Things Men Can Do to Beat Stress

Soak in a Hot Tub

Soothe yourself with a relaxing hot tub soak. The warm water and the massaging action of the water jets relieves your stress.

Warm water immersion for just ten minutes can lower blood pressure caused by too much stress. Hot tubs also improve your sleep making you healthier!

Now that you know the dangers of stress and a few ways to beat it, it’s time to put it to the test. Try our three suggestions for a few hours each week and watch your stress levels drop.
