Most furniture stands up well to anything Kansas throws at it (minus tornadoes, of course). All-weather wicker, metal, teak, cedar, poly, and more will do just fine.

Regular cleaning, like what you do inside your home, is always a good idea, and we often recommend furniture covers in the winter. Or, consider if you will store it over the winter? This isn’t usually necessary in our more mild winters.

#4: Consider the Aesthetic

We touched on this earlier, but you also want to consider your style and your color scheme.

Will you match the colors and textures inside your home or go with something completely different?

In addition, while we love total matching sets, feel free to mix it up a bit. Mixing wood, metal, poly, and wicker is a great way to go. You do want to keep to the same color tones for a more cohesive look.

Don’t forget the throw pillows. You can really get bold with these or stay more neutral if you wish. Outdoor rugs can also add to your overall design aesthetic.
