How to Stay Healthy for the Holidays

We hear a lot about the Delta variant as well as the new Omicron variant right now and how to protect ourselves during the pandemic. Yet, other illnesses like the flu are still out there this winter. What can we do to keep ourselves as healthy as possible in 2021 and stay well to enjoy the holidays?

Here’s how to stay healthy for the holidays.

Exercise

One of the best things you can do during the holidays is keep to your normal exercise routine as close as possible.

If you can’t continue exercising, at a minimum, try to stretch using yoga or flexibility exercises. These will help keep you feeling your best.

Working out helps you stay healthy as many of us eat more than normal during the holidays. It also helps you stay healthier as working out supports your circulatory system and immune functions.

Get Sleep

The holidays are a busy, stressful time, so it’s also important to get adequate sleep and rest.

Try to carve out some alone time for an early bedtime or even a short, afternoon nap.

Like exercise, getting enough sleep can also help you avoid the cold and flu this holiday season.

Drink Water

You want to make sure you drink enough water during the busy holiday season (and always).

Water keeps you hydrated and helps you eat less by making you feel fuller. And, like exercise and sleep, drinking enough water keeps you healthier.

If you do get a cold during the holidays, ramp up your water drinking to thin nasal secretions and reduce congestion.

To Conclude

Get a leg up on staying healthy during the holidays by exercise, drinking water, and getting enough sleep.

In addition, don’t forget to wash your hands regularly!
