Spring Cleaning Your Hot Tub

It’s time for spring cleaning!

Your hot tub takes good care of your mind and body, so you want to take care of it, too.

As spring approaches, our minds turn to spring cleaning, so it’s a good idea to add your hot tub to that checklist.

In this article, we look at spring cleaning your hot tub to keep it clean and in good shape.

Drain and Refill Your Water

It’s a good idea to drain and refill your hot tub every three or four months, especially is you use it a lot.

Plus, spring is a great time to drain and refill your tub. Here’s how:

  • Drain the water.
  • Wipe the surface of your tub with a damp cloth or cleaner made for hot tubs.
  • Inspect your spa for wear and tear.
  • Use a hose with an attached filter to refill your spa.
  • Add and balance your chemicals.

Clean the Cover

Your hot tub cover takes the brunt of the elements all year long, so you want to give it a cleaning every month. This keeps it looking good and helps it last longer.

Consider using a cover cleaner made for hot tub covers. Wipe your cover down with a damp cloth or sponge after and rinse it with warm water.

If it’s extra grimey, let the cover cleaner sit for a few minutes before wiping the cover down.

Check Your Filters

This spring, replace your filter if you haven’t done so in a while. If you have recently replaced it, give it a dip in a filter cleaner to make sure it’s really clean.

You do want to clean your filters like this monthly. Additionally, it’s beneficial to spray your hot tub’s filters weekly to reduce the amount of build up.

Be sure and check your instruction manual for detailed directions.

Clean the Pillows

Your pillows are in your hot tub for comfort, so you want to make sure they are clean. Wipe your pillows gently with cleaner and then wipe them again with fresh water.

Clean the Steps

Keep your steps clean so you don’t track dirt into your hot tub. Wipe your steps down with a damp cloth after every two-three hot tub sessions.

For spring cleaning, scrub them with cleaner.

Final Thoughts on Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is a great time to get your home in order, and we recommend adding your hot tub to the list.

By keeping your spa clean and fresh, you’ll ensure it will last for years to come.
